A Gulet is a wooden motor sailing vessel, the modern version of the ancient cargo bearing craft which used to trade along the coast of Turkey ,although frequently found all around the eastern Mediterranean. I Today this type of vessel, varying in size from 15 to 40 metres ( about 50′ to 150′), is now very popular for tourist charters, party boats, back packing afloat. It suits the larger groups of say 12 to 20 guests. With smaller crews and more guests, diesel power is now almost universally used and the sails are raised in favourable conditions only to add some authenticity only.
The original design has evolved into a comfortable cruising vessel and some have air conditioned accommodation for up to twenty guests normally in self-contained double or twin cabins. Each cabin has a separate toilet with wash basin and shower providing modern facilities and privacy. The Gulets offer enough space to the passengers in the cabins, in the aisles and on the deck. In many ways a Gulet is like a full service hotel where every room has a sea view and the scenery changes constantly. If you have a large group it may be economical for you to charter one of these vessels
The crew of usually three to five includes a qualified and licensed Captain, cook and deck hands. The cabins of the crew are completely separated from those of the passengers. The Gulets offer ample space the guests in the cabins, in the aisles and on deck.
Although the Gulets are essentially motor yachts, it may be possible to sail certain vessels in the right conditions. You can shape your cruise itinerary as you wish before booking. Have a look at our suggested itineraries. Usually the daily cruising is not longer than 3-4 hours, and the rest of the day can be spent in a secluded cove enjoying the sun and the sea. Sunbathing on the deck, swimming in clear waters, snorkeling, exploring and sight seeing. Many Gulets carry equipment for watersports such as skiing windsurfing kayaking or fast RIBs.
Usually you can choose between half board and full board meal plans, allowing you to explore the wonderful restaurants and night culture.
Gulets are only available on an exclusive basis through Lazy Winch Yachting in Croatia, if you are interested in cabin charter for groups of 2-8 guests click this link for our Cabin Charter options.
